Let it Snow!

If you'd come to visit my house today you'd find a complete disaster! It's been close to a year since I packed away our heavy coats and scarves as we prepared for our move to the Bayou. Knowing we wouldn't be expecting much, if any, snow the coming winter I did a good job of hiding them in some unmarked box in the back of the last closet I looked! After tearing the house apart though, finding them was like Christmas itself! I love love love this time of year! Did I mention I love it? Well, just in case, I looove it!

There's something so magical about the Christmas season to me. I love getting bundled up with scarves and festive socks I'll probably get made fun of for. I love having an excuse to drink even more coffee than I already do because, hey, I need it to keep me warm right? I love going for walks and looking at Christmas lights and by the evening's end realizing I can't feel my fingers and I'm not even quite sure if I still have a nose. I love spending the day baking with my daughter and teaching her some of my favorite recipes. I love shopping for just the right gifts I know will make someone smile. There really isn't anything that I don't like about this time of year.

Filled with all the giddy excitement I was today, I decided to take a drive out to the mountains to see the new snow fall. Walking around in that beautiful winter wonderland I started thinking of something my mom had said recently about Thanksgiving, how we should be thankful every day and not just the one. Watching all those delicate snowflakes and sipping my coffee I realized just how much I have to be thankful for this year. I'll be spending Christmas this year with not only my daughter, who I love more than anything, but also my mom who I've been recently adopted by. The memories we'll make together this year made the top of my list.

The drive back home was bittersweet as I didn't want to leave though I knew the season had just begun and the next time I'd take a trip like this would be with my family!

As I settle in and prepare for a Bayou Christmas I just want to remind you all to be thankful for those around you, find any excuse to drink more coffee, and to allow yourself to be all silly giddy! Afterall, we only live once.

C'est la Mort

A good friend of mine passed away recently and while I've been trying to distract myself from thinking too much about it, today it kind of snuck up on me. I spent a little quiet time this morning at our graveyard, our little place of rest near our home. I thought of all the silly time we had spent together, his lame jokes I'd always laugh at whether they were funny or not, and his staple bomber jacket that I secretly thought he looked amazing in. I've been wearing mine the last couple of days. It's interesting how, even something in SL, can begin to take on new value.

Taking the time to really reflect on all of these things really helped me a lot today. While I know you hear it quite often in situations like these, please don't forget to appreciate the people in your life today. Let them know you care and let them know when they've made a difference in your life. Let them know you love them. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow.

I'll miss you David. ♥

 Okay, really though.. I love this top and pant set Emery released for Collabor88. Seeing the ad, I almost passed it up. It was a gorgeous ad, don't get me wrong, just not my usual style. We all know how real the struggle to get into Collabor88 right after opening is though, so in true shopaholic fashion, I grabbed the demo while I could and was pleasantly surprised!

I especially love these pants! While they could be dressed up or down...it's me we're talking about here... so immediately I saw them as the perfect lounge around the house pants. You know those yoga pants women wear day in and day out whether they do yoga or not? Yeah...these are my equivalent to those yoga pants! lol I'll probably live in them...they're just too comfy not to! The sweater is just as cozy and both the tops and pants come in different colors and patterns for mix and matching.

Coco & Junk

Fameshed opened it's new round today and while I usually have a little bit of patience to wait a couple days before fighting my way in...this time?...not so much! I spotted a few items that just had to be mine. This outfit and skybox are a couple of them. I've been shopping COCO for so long now and I can honestly say it's one of the very few stores that continue to impress me. So many stores have come and gone yet COCO has stuck to their vision and continue to create beautiful and unique clothing. A somewhat reoccurring feature of theirs is being able to tuck your hand in your pocket! I absolutely looove this! It feels so natural and really sets this coat apart from others out there. And the glove? It comes with your coat to keep your other hand cozy, warm and stylish as well! The tailored pants that go with this coat are just as awesome. I love the black coat with blue pants combination but there's lots of other colors to chose from as well that would make for a lot of fun mixing and matching! ♥

Now this skybox! junk. did an incredible job on it. It's the perfect size, enough room to move around yet not huge to where you'd need a ton of things (and prims!) to decorate it. I love the brick and included are two versions, one regular and the other shadow friendly. I already have some exciting, and secret, ideas of what I'll be using this for in the near future! ♥

Paint Your Own Story

With a new avatar comes a new attitude! I couldn't be more excited to embark on this new stage in my second life. A new name...new look...new goals! Starting fresh got me thinking about how much I control my own happiness, how I control where the future will take me, how I'm painting the chapters of my own story. I encourage you all to take hold of the brush and Paint Your Own Story ♥

With that being said... what's a girl on a new avatar to do? SHOP... darn right? I knooow! I've been having fun pairing some of my old favorites, like these capris from mon tissu and saddle shoes from tres blah, with new favorites like this cardigan from Mikunch! Yellow Brick Road

I absolutely love Mikunch's release for this month's Kustom9 so I just had to show off another of their outfits. This dress is so sweet and comfy to wear and now, with the days starting to get cooler, the henley underneath will still keep you plenty warm on those cool nights! Because they're so awesome, Mikunch included a texture change hud with this outfit to both change the color of the henley as well as the dress! I decided my favorite was the blue though and it didn't take me long to figure out why...it reminded me so much of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. I knew right away I had to find my ruby red slippers! After a little scavenger hunt, I finally found my missing shoe under my bed and grabbed Watson, my little Boston Terrier. No offense Dorothy, but who really needs a Toto when you have a Watson? We set off to see the wizard! Now along the way, we had someone join us. Cowardly Lion ♥ He wasn't a very confident fellow but Watson and I decided to let him borrow some of our courage for the journey. The journey to Oz isn't a quick one you know so I had plenty of time to wander in my thoughts along the way. Just what did I plan on asking the Great and Powerful Oz for once we arrived? The Cowardly Lion obviously would ask for courage and Watson, I'm sure, had something on his mind regarding extra doggie treats before bedtime. The decision for me though, wasn't so easy...

I finally decided that I'd ask Oz for strength, strength to get through tough times and always look ahead to the next Emerald City. Surely then, my yellow brick road will always lead me exactly to where I'm supposed to be.
